Battery

The CANmod.gps includes a small coin cell battery of type CR2032. The battery is used to retain satellite orbit knowledge when the module is not powered, allowing for faster time-to-fix. The battery life depends on how the module is used and will typically last several years. The module works without a battery installed, but will perform a cold-start at startup extending the time-to-fix.

Note

The battery is disconnected when the module is powered by the supply lines to avoid unnecessary battery drain.

Replacement

The battery can be replaced by unscrewing the backplate and inserting a new battery as illustrated below.
